Our Story

Afghanistan Travel Experience (ATE) began in 2013 as a small Couchsurfing network connecting travelers with trusted local contacts across Afghanistan. In a country where information was often unclear and access unpredictable, ATE focused on practical guidance and reliable human connections.

In 2018, ATE WhatsApp community was launched to provide real-time travel updates, route information and permit guidance. As demand increased for structured and transparent local support, ATE Tours was formally established in 2021 to deliver professionally coordinated, Afghan-led travel experiences.

By 2026, all initiatives were unified under “ ate.af ” bringing together tours, rides, community platforms, DMC and diaspora homecoming into one independent Afghan-led travel platform. ATE was built on the ground, shaped by real experience and long-term commitment.
